C.J. Stroud is going to start the second game of the preseason for the Houston Texans.
While this may seem a bit risky, because frankly, every preseason rep is risky, NFL insider Ian Rapoport is reporting that this is just standard operating procedure for new head coach DeMeco Ryans.
All healthy players (read: starters) are going to play early for the Texans in Saturday’s preseason game against the Miami Dolphins.
To say that these are important reps for Stroud would be understating just how big this game is for the Texans, though. Sure, it means nothing on the books, but they took him No. 2 overall in this past draft because they think he can and need him to be “the guy”.
